Oh my goodness!? Anyone who knows me, knows just how allergic I am to planning. I’m the girl who has been engaged far longer than I can actually remember (#truestory). So, why T minus three days before my four year old’s party, do I still have only skeletal plans? Because, that’s how I roll….

My little firecracker of a daughter turned four years old on the 22nd, after curling up and crying about where the time has gone and wishing I could stop her from aging; once Thursday hit I was faced with the reality that I had done nothing… I have been given some directions from my little drill Sergeant-TROLLS. TROLLS & more TROLLS. After almost confirming two cakes, because my memory is so shot- I forgot that I had confirmed one and then went on to confirm another…embarrassing. What was my first plan of attack?! Dollarama. Like many people, it is the go to for party planning that won’t put you in debt…although sometimes it can put a serious dent in your pocket. No joke. So my procrastinator’s guide is to go WILD! Leaving $50-$75 poorer and questioning a lot of things in my life.

In the haste of it all, I completely forgot to take a picture of the decorations I purchased, but I’m sure you can cope. Here’s the quick run down, between my Walmart and Dollarama trips: plastic My Little Pony table cloth, My Little Pony paper plates (big & small), My Little Pony paper cups, Trolls balloon. I also stopped at Bulk Barn to get some extra candy, because you can never have too much. On my way back home, I stopped at Marche De L’Ouest, to get some fresh fruits for my fruit platter, grabbed the cake from my friend’s house and I was on my way!

-packaged popcorn

– smarties

– chocolate discs (white & orange chocolate)

  • Pop the popcorn and pour into a bowl, then melt the chocolate and using a spoon drizzle it on top of the popcorn. Scatter the Smarties in the mi and toss. All done!

Candy, Candy, Candy…

As it’s almost Halloween, I’m lucky that there is plenty of candy en mass and in so many varieties. I ended buying a mixed box with Nerds, Soft Jolly Ranchers, Marshmallows, Sour Patch Kids, Popping Candy, Sweet Tarts, Runts, Laffy Taffy, Gummy Worms, Starbursts, Sour Belts, Sour Dummies, Jellybeans and I’m sure I have left some out.

Part of my avoidance of party planning, is the fact that I need to dictate HOW and WHAT people will do to enjoy themselves. There’s no right answer and if you have family and friends who are good sports, you’ll have fun no matter what you do…but this party is legit one child and seven adults, mainly because I wasn’t prepared to have more than one child destroy my house (just yet), besides half a decade of me surviving parenthood is MORE of a reason to #partay! So, we opted for a relaxed, laid back approach to her party, she opened her gifts, we ate pizza and the tonnes of candy on display and watched Trolls. Nothing over the top and to be perfectly honest, it’s just how I like it. Oh! And for added drama, we even has sparkler drama as they refused to light…mysterious.

All in all, it was a lovely family get together and the star of the show was overwhelmed, but happy, so at the end of the day we were all winners!
