Begin Anew

As I drive down the road in anticipation of seeing your face,
I take a deep breath and smile shyly to myself,
You don’t know it entirely, but you have ignited something in me I had tucked away,
A simple spark, a realization or a conformation,
Even through some of the darkest times, I can begin anew,
My heart is elastic enough to take the hit,
Recover and take the leap forward
Making steps for myself, thinking of myself,
Openness and honesty I didn’t know I was craving,
Smiling as I get to you,
Fully embracing beginning anew with you.
