Desire

The lot of us who avoid it,
Versus the ones of us who are constantly chasing it,
It complicates things so much,
Pursuits that will never bear fruit,
Seeking out whom and what they cannot have,
Promising things they will never be able to provide,
Shunning the hearts within reach for the ones they can never obtain,
Mixing feelings with pursuits they should never follow,
One’s desires complicate things ever so much,
Is it human nature to ultimately throw it all away on a whim?
Life and love sits on the balance between getting what you want and being humiliated,
Keeping up appearances or going on with your own life,
Being our true selves or projecting what we think people want to see,
The eternal imbalance of desire
