You Chose Fear

You said what we had was special,
But instead, you chose fear,
At the first hurdle,
You imploded and didn’t take my outstretched hand,
You chose fear,
Over all of the endless possibilities which awaited us,
You chose fear,
At the sight of my fragile heart in my outstretched hand,
You recoiled and chose fear,
A connection I had never felt before,
Yet, you chose fear,
My vulnerability left bare,
You chose fear,
Now four months later,
As I continue to patch the pieces of my pride,
You walk back in,
With words of a charlatan,
And expect me in turn to not choose fear,
