86,400 Seconds

There are 86,400 seconds in a day,
We barely notice as they tick on by,
But, all of mine are consumed with thoughts of you,
Anxiety fills all of the silences you send my way,
Your time goes by the same as mine, except
None of your time is spent thinking of me,
If this were the case, I would know, wouldn’t I?
There are 86,400 seconds in a day,
I feel all of them acutely, because they are void of you,
Wasting the time I do have on thoughts of someone who doesn’t appreciate me,
Thoughts consumed by what you think to be deep affection,
When in fact it can only be dillusion,
There are 86,400 seconds in a day,
So many and yet, so little,
Enough to realize just how much you are kidding yourself,
That someone should value the time in your day,
There are 86,400 seconds in a day,
You then begin to realize just how much time we do have,
And how you choose to spend none of yours on me,
Enough for me to ask myself why I spend so much on you,
There are 86,400 seconds in a day,
High time I spare some of mine on pouring into myself,
And refocusing your rejection as redirection.
